Our platform uses Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) to capture real-time viewing data from the "glass" of over 23 million opted-in U.S. households, across a diverse panel of devices (Vizio, LG) and peripheral inputs. Each captured ad is fingerprinted and matched against a comprehensive ad library to verify when and where it aired. Spend is estimated by matching verified airings against market-level spot rates.
Local cable "zone" inserts that are not part of a broader network buy may return a reported spend of $0 if the specific creative fingerprint is not detected within the monitoring window. This is the expected explanation for any Cable column showing $0 or n/a in markets where impressions data confirms cable activity is present.
Each advertiser's activity is split across three mutually exclusive channels.
Publisher definitions
vMVPD attribution. When a viewer watches a local broadcast affiliate (e.g., NBC) via a streaming bundle such as YouTube TV or Hulu Live, the impression is categorized under CTV (vMVPD), not under the originating affiliate. This tracks audience migration to internet-delivered platforms without double-counting the content.
Satellite vs. streaming. To prevent data overlap, DirecTV satellite dish is reported as Cable, while DirecTV Stream (the internet-delivered app) is reported as Streaming (CTV).
OTA (Over-the-Air). Free broadcast signals received via antenna from local ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX affiliates — no cable subscription, no internet. The content itself is a linear broadcast signal, but in this dataset OTA viewing is identified through Smart TV ACR — so the measurement comes from a connected-TV panel even though the signal is broadcast. Counted once, not duplicated with the Broadcast column.
